Biocomposites

Composites UK Biocomposites Group will aim to advance the development and commercialisation of natural composite materials by encouraging an integrated approach in the supply chain. By engaging academia, industry, the market and government it is expected that many of the current barriers to the wider adoption of these materials will be overcome.

The Biocomposites Group will work with other bodies in this field including members of SusCompNet  to ensure effective dissemination of information and reduction of duplicity in output. Existing organisations have specific roles and it is not the intention of the Group to replicate any of these, but to provide a forum for all bodies to come together and thus focus and strengthen the position of the natural composites industry in the UK.

Members of the Biocomposites Group will also be members of Composites UK and thus gain from the usual member benefits of the Association.

The cost to join the Biocomposites Group is currently £100 per annumn, on top of the normal Composites UK membership fee.

BioComposites Subgroup meeting in collaboration with SusCompNet

5th March 2013 | WMG, Warwick

Composite materials derived from natural, renewable sources have received significant interest in recent years, in particular due to the increased awareness of environmental issues and the drive towards more sustainable technologies. The materials offer unique advantages over alternative choices, but there are many questions still to be answered from potential end-users and from the composites community itself. Within this in mind, Composites UK BioComposites group is collaborating with SusCompNet  to support and guide companies looking to either produce or use these materials.
