Composites UK Accident Reporting Scheme

The HSE has highlighted the Plastics sector in respect of its revitalising H&S initiative (RHS). This will include the Composites sector. A steering committee has been formed and Composites UK are involved. The initiative intends to promote the recording of accident statistics by sector, progressive reduction in accident rates and the establishment of pro-active safety management systems. The target for implementation is the year-end.

It makes sense that we are one step ahead of the game rather than waiting for possibly inappropriate systems to be imposed on us. We would like to commence the compilation of accident statistics by quarter for the Composites sector from July 1st 2009.  You can download a simple accident reporting form which we would like you to complete and return to the secretary at the end of each quarter. Board members will compile the returns and provide a concise statistical analysis to member companies. Hopefully our accident rates will be amongst the lowest in the Plastics sector! Some guidance notes in respect of the reporting and accident definition can also be downloaded.
